Pottery Cascade

Return to Product Information

These glazes produce special effects when used in combination with other non-toxic glazes. White Cascade intermingles with other glazes being used, introducing pure white to the colors you are using, blending with the color. Clear Cascade produces a flowing effect and allows the color of the base glaze to show through. Apply Cascade over or under non-toxic glaze to create spectacular effects.

What is Pottery Cascade?

Pottery Cascades are non-toxic, free flowing glazes used to produce special effects or flow patterns when used in combinations with other non-toxic glazes.

How do I apply Pottery Cascade?
Apply White, Black and Amber Cascades with a brush in 1-3 coats. Can be dabbed on at random, evenly or unevenly to create different flow patterns using a sea wool sponge, Chore Boy™ or Tuffy™ sponge. Clear Cascade should be brushed on as you would apply a glaze. Apply 1-2 brushed coats over or under a non-toxic glaze. Do not go below the halfway point of the piece, as the Clear Cascade flows more. Pottery Cascades can be applied between color, underneath and over colors for different effects.

Do the different Pottery Cascades perform differently?
White Cascade (PC-602) intermingles with the other glazes being used, introducing pure white to the colors you are using, blending with the color. White Cascade has a minimum movement and will stay in the pattern that you apply it in. Amber Cascade (PC-603) and Black Cascade (PC-604) perform similar to the White Cascade. Clear Cascade (PC-601) produces a more flowing effect, and allows the color of the base glaze to show through. It can also alter your original color, creating a new color. It will form runs or you can direct the runs when you apply the product.

How do I fire Pottery Cascade?
Properly fire to shelf cone 06. These glazes become more fluid when high fired. Color application, firing time and temperature, shape of the piece and placement of pieces in the kiln can all affect the final results.

Can I use Pottery Cascade with other glazes?
Pottery Cascades are not intended to be used alone. Cascades should only be used in combination with other non-toxic glazes. Using a leaded product with Cascades will create stress on the piece during firing and crack the piece. For best results, use with Elements, Classic Crackles, Crystalites, Stroke & Coat and Pottery Coat.

Are Pottery Cascades overglaze compatible?
Yes. Test first.
